Carrie Bradshaw’s Apartment is Real and You Can Visit!

Walk along the brownstones in the village with carrie!

By: V. Rhodes

Did you know you can visit the front steps of THE Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment? We didn’t either. But you better believe we found it! An absolute must see for any Sex and the City fans when in NYC. We explored her neighbourhood, drank her coffee & ate her cupcakes. All that was missing was a pair of Manolo’s and a cigarette.

As far as TV Show apartments go, Carrie Bradshaw’s is one of the greats! But did you know you could visit it? Although in the show, Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) is said to live in a rent-controlled apartment on the Upper East Side, the actual stoop used as the filming location is in Greenwich Village.

Reminder: Please be respectful. This is an actual full time residence, and not a film set. Would you want tourists lingering on your front steps all day every day? Probably not. When we visited there were signs about not crossing a rope, or sitting on the steps. It’s inevitable that people would want to visit this piece of TV history, but we can all be friendly about it. Thanks Everyone!

Recognize those steps? The original Queen of NY herself can be seen here throughout the show, as well in a bunch of promo photography for the movies. Although the first three seasons were filled at the 64 Perry Street residence, due to privacy issues, the remainder of the show was filmed t 66 Perry Street. These steps have seen A LOT of drama! We’re so grateful to have been able to visit the last time we were in NY.

Regardless if you’re team Big or team Aidan, you can’t deny it: Carrie’s apartment is the bomb. And so much of both her story lines with these men relates to her apartment. Whether it's Aidan moving in with her, or Big buying her a place with a walk in closet. Even Carrie herself admits that her identity is closely tied with this apartment.

Even if you’re not a Sex and the City fan, this street is beautiful. These fantastic old brownstones and townhouses are really wonderful to see. I would highly recommend grabbing a coffee and walking around this area if you can. Especially if you’re making an outing to see the shops of West Village.

Speaking of coffee (and cake), a Carrie Bradshaw post would not be complete without mentioning Magnolia Bakery. Especially since it’s literally steps away from her apartment. This bakery is so synonymous with Sex and the City that they even have a ‘Carrie’ cupcake as a staple to their menu.

We did a whole post about Magnolia Bakery, if you’re craving more more SATC goodies:
