LOCATION

SYDNEY HARBOUR

Bennelong Point, Sydney NSW 2000, Australia

Getting out on the water is a must when visiting Sydney, Australia. One of the big water transportation hubs is at Circular Quay along the Sydney Harbour. This is where you can catch ferries, tour boats, or commercial cruises - depending on your adventures. Once out on the water, this is where you can see this icon view of both the Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

PLOT

After Maddie and Abby Parker (Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen) thwart a diamond heist, their entire family is placed in the Witness Protection Program. But unfortunately, as girls keep accidentally revealing their identities, the FBI constantly has to relocate them. Once all locations have been exhausted, the Parker family is moved to Sydney, Australia as a last effort to keep them safe. Maddie and Abby attempt to fit in with their new classmates, while the diamond thieves try to hunt them down.

AS SEEN ON SCREEN

the SCENE

Maddie and Abby Parker (Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen) are invited to a yacht party by their classmate, Victoria (Jade Bronneberg). Of course this is where they are wearing their memorable 1960’s color block outfits. The twins start off by having fun and dancing at the party, but realize they would rather be spending time with surfers Pete (Ryan Clark) and Avory (Scott Swalwell). When the guys arrive, Maddie and Abby decide to ditch the party and all four leave on jet skis.

BOAT OPTIONS

Wondering how to get out on the water? By boat of course! There are a bunch of boat options that can take you around the harbour. If you, like me, don't own their own personal yacht - don’t worry, there are options! Make your way to Circular Quay, Sydney and let's get started!

#1 PRIVATE CRUISE

You can take a paid cruise around the harbour! There are a bunch of different companies, so make sure you do your research to see which provides the experience you’re looking for. Depending on the ticket option you purchase, you can get different food and drinks offerings. We went at sunset, and although that was a bit of an upcharge it was beautiful.

 #2 PUBLIC FERRY

Ferry from Manly Beach to Circular Quay - This option is much cheaper than taking a boat cruise. In Sydney, there are ferry boats you can hop on and off of similar to buses or trains. And if you have an Opal Card (which is a pre-loaded card used to pay for public transportation), you can just tap and head on.

PHOTO TIPS

In both boating instances, you can get your Mary-Kate and Ashley picture on your return to Circular Quay (if you're at the front of the boat) or at your initial departure from the harbour (if you're at the back of the boat). That way you can get both the Opera House and Harbour Bridge in the shot. Although the Olsen twins are there during the day, we went in the evening to watch the sunset behind the Opera House.

Boating not in your budget?

That's totally ok, we have other tips for you. Walk along Circular Quay towards the Hyatt. This whole pier will get you some great shots of you with the Opera House in the background. And if you wake up early you can even get some beautiful sunrise pictures with no other tourists in them!

Look Familiar?

Does this shot look familiar? You could be picturing it from Mission: Impossible II (2000) or from Finding Nemo (2003). Both movies have a scene out on the water with the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge in the background.
