Eat the Iconic SATC Cupcake from Magnolia Bakery!
Any excuse to talk about cupcakes! let’s dive in!

Magnolia Bakery was thrust into fame after being featured in an episode of the HBO classic, Sex and the City (1998-2004). What started as one local cupcake shop on Bleecker Street, has now become a NYC must-do with half a dozen locations around the city.
In S03E05, Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) are sitting outside Magnolia Bakery on Bleeker Street, stuffing their faces with pink cupcakes while they talk about Carrie's new crush, Aidan. This one scene cemented Magnolia Bakery into TV history.

Magnolia Bakery has become so synonymous with Sex and the City that in 2007 they introduced a ‘Carrie’ cupcake, which has since become a staple on their menu. Speaking from experience, this cupcake is divine! I would absolutely recommend this vanilla cupcake with pink buttercream frosting. Delish! Can’t make it to NY right now? Magnolia released a recipe for the Carrie.
Vanilla not your thing? Or if you’re looking for a more adventurous flavour, go for it! I have eaten at Magnolia a handful of times, and I have yet to be disappointed. They even have special monthly featured flavours, so give those a try!

Even if you’re not a Sex and the City fan, this area is beautiful. These fantastic old brownstones and townhouses are really wonderful to see. Especially if you’re making an outing to see the shops of West Village. For our West Village morning, we started at Magnolia and got ourselves some cupcakes and cappuccinos. We immediately scarfed down the cupcakes, and regretted not getting a second. Then we wandered around the village as we made our way to Carrie’s apartment.

Magnolia Bakery post would not be complete without mentioning Carrie Bradshaw. Especially since this bakery literally steps away from the iconic apartment. Get yourself a cappuccino, and take a walk through the West Village.
